At Eyenovation, we’ve been lucky to do work for various athletes in different forms of competition. Many of our clients stem from professional athletics or extreme sports. So when the Los Angeles Kings launched their local marketing initiative, the LA Kings Fanz Choice we were very honored to be chosen to help develop the identity and branding.

The company name was initially dubbed “The Clubs Choice,” before eventually morphing into ‘Fanz.’ Our initial identity explorations focused on the concept of a fan holding a scarf, which is part and parcel at almost any football (soccer) stadium. Example here.
We played around with different “characters” – some of which were more aggressive, some of which were playful and cartoon like. The challenge was finding a suitable design that spoke to fans of all ages.
Once the concept was chosen, we then explored different alternatives, particularly for sports where fans holding scarves were not the norm. We also came up with a female variant as many sports teams have a growing female contingent.
Ultimately the primary brand was used in several different mediums, much of which can be seen here on our portfolio page.
The Los Angeles Kings leveraged different fan activation initiatives, one of which included a signed Bernie Nicholls hockey card.
The Kings also created an official Fanz Choice fan area where local fans could meet and take pictures with the popular “LA Kings Ice Crew.”
